How
Joined Up is your Justice System?
Is there a shared, top level statement of purpose against which all parts of the system can measure their contribution to the delivery of justice? Is there consistency in the way in which similar cases are handled in different parts of the country? Are there common performance standards across the country, and between different agencies in the Justice Sector (Police, Prosecutors, The Judiciary, Prisons, Local Administrations? Is there a process for consultation between the agencies? If such a process exists, does it work? Are there arrangements for regular review and monitoring of the work of the Justice Sector? Are there guides and other material to help citizens to understand how the system works? Do citizens know their rights? Do citizens know what expectations of the system they should reasonably have? Is guidance and advice available in a language, and
form, that makes it accessible to most citizens in each area
